The 2nd SAMI (Sustainable Agrifood Management in Indonesia) Summer Course was successfully held from August 6–15, 2018, hosted by the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. The program promoted global engagement through multidisciplinary learning and field-based activities, aiming to strengthen IPB’s reputation in the international academic community.
With participants from across Asia, the program featured joint efforts among three departments — Management, Animal Production Technology, and Food Science — to present an integrative approach to sustainable agrifood systems in Indonesia.
Highlights of SAMI 2018:
12 lecture sessions and 12 field trips on sustainable agrifood management
Expert insights from lecturers of University of Hannover (Germany), Universiti Putera Malaysia, Annamalai University (India), and FAO Indonesia
International student participants from Malaysia, India, Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar
Field visits to Sabisa Farm, Satwa Harapan Animal Farm, IPB Science Technopark, and Serambi Botani
Final team project and cross-cultural academic interaction
SAMI 2018 reinforced collaboration between disciplines and cultures, enriching students’ understanding of agrifood systems and promoting IPB’s role as a world-class university.
