IPB University which is previously called as Bogor Agricultural University (Institut Pertanian Bogor) was built on 1st September 1963 on the form of visionary thinking from the leader of nation and those who care about the agricultural field. Thus, IPB University was established as a world-class university with competence in the field of agriculture, bioscience, and various related fields. This was intended for strengthening of food security, bioenergy, job creation, poverty alleviation, and preserving of the environment. IPB University is known as trendsetter of agricultural development n a broad sense, indicated by the involvement of the nation’s leaders in its development.

Vision of IPB University is to become a research-based university and leading in innovation for national independence towards a techno-social entrepreneurial university that excels at the global level in agriculture, marine, tropical biosciences. One of out mission is to organizing higher education by strengthening the research base of the university to produce superior techno-sociopreneur graduates, have noble character based on faith and piety to God, high nationalism, professional competence, millennium softskills, leadership, globally insightful and become a trend setter of innovation and change.
